About

Yessenia Barron Reyes is an artist and designer based in Riverside, CA. She received her BFA in Fine Art from La Sierra University (2017). Yessenia has developed a keen eye for detail and approaches her work with careful thought and intention. Her work includes a variety of mediums, including textiles, prints, collages, and artist books.

Yessenia’s practice centers on providing her community with opportunities for reflection, growth, and self-awareness. She aims to inspire a sense of ease in others, encouraging them to explore and connect with their emotions while discovering new paths for personal growth. Her work, visual and sentimental, seeks to look inward and reflect on the tender moments of her life. It serves as a reminder to find beauty in the brokenness and the unfinished.

Beyond her practice, Yessenia dedicated five years of teaching as an Art Instructor at Notre Dame High School. She created a safe space for students to learn a variety of art mediums and reflect on their work. Her leadership led to several community-based projects and opportunities for her students to showcase their artwork in educational and local settings, such as the Brandstater Gallery, Riverside Main Library, Overflow Farms, and Notre Dame High School.

Yessenia's dedication to creativity and community engagement continues in her current role as an Adult Special Needs Art Instructor. Guiding and engaging small groups in daily art activities and monthly projects. She continuously seeks to grow, connect with her community, and inspire others to nurture their creativity in any setting.
